Krystal Bruchs
As a doula I believe that all birthing families deserve to feel supported, informed and confident in making decisions during their birthing time. I enjoy learning about my client's birthing visions, teaching comfort measures to partners, suggesting labor positions, and different tips/tricks through pregnancy and your birthing journey. I take pride in teaching my clients how to advocate for themselves with their care providers in order to establish trust and healthy communication. I love that my clients are able to navigate through their birth using the tools they have gained from our prenatal visit, knowing they feel confident as they advocate for their choices, and they feel supported throughout their entire birthing experience.
My experience as a doula started in 2015 with the birth of my niece. Just two weeks after unexpectedly attending her birth I was sitting in my first doula training, and just two months after that I began attending births. Since 2015 have had the opportunity to take over 15 different trainings and conferences related to pregnancy and birth. A few of my favorite trainings have been; Spinning Babies, Gilligan's Guide, Rebozo, and Advanced Comfort Measures for Childbirth. Becoming a doula has fueled my passion for learning, no two births are ever the same and I learn something new at every birth I have the honor of attending.
I had the privilege of joining the 9th Avenue Doulas (formerly known as the Rose Doulas team) in March of 2020 and supported families through eighteen months during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. During my time on the team, I saw the benefit of the doulas establishing relationships with the medical providers and how in turn that created an even bigger benefit to the birthing families we served as doulas. In August 2021 I decided to leave the team in order to pursue a career opportunity to become a Doula Instructor and teach at a local community college. During my time as a Doula Instructor, I enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience with eager new doulas but by the end of 2022 I began to miss being in the birthing space with my clients and decided to make the switch back to full time birth doula work. Shortly after I made that decision I reached out and inquired about rejoining the team and I am now happy to be working with the 9th Avenue Doulas again as of September 2023.
Outside of being a doula, I am a wife and mom with a house full of boys. My husband and I married in 2011 and we have two boys that we welcomed in 2013 and 2016. I am also a mom to four fur babies, two cats and two dogs, I would probably have more but #husband. When I am not attending births, you can find me trying to wrangle my family for a last-minute adventure (because on call life), DIYing or upcycling something I found on Pinterest, sewing or hand stitching, puzzling, and eating ice cream. I am the oldest of seven kids with 5 sisters and one brother and we moved every 2-3 years due to my Dad’s job in the military. Growing up I thought that being the new kid at school every couple of years was challenging but as I have grown and found my calling as a Doula, I see that having that experience as a child helped me develop the social skills to find ways to easily connect with clients and medical providers in the birthing space.
Congratulations on your growing family!

“Having Krystal as my doula was such a wonderful experience. She was 100% present with me the entire time, providing me with all kinds of support in every moment. She is seasoned and professional but also totally down to earth. She has such a warm and nurturing energy. I honestly don’t think I could have done it without her. I recommend her highly.”
“Krystal was amazing during the birth of our first child. She is knowledgeable and supportive. My husband also appreciated the support she gave to us both. Krystal listened to what we wanted and I had peace of mind knowing that we had an advocate looking out for us, in the midst of a new, exciting, but tiring experience. Even when our birth didn't go as originally planned, Krystal helped us adjust, making it a positive and wonderful experience. We will definitely use her again!”
"We had a wonderful birthing experience with Krystal by our side. Krystal brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in a nonjudgmental warm approach. She was able to support my husband and me during the labor process by giving us suggestions on positions and guiding me through contractions with a calm and encouraging presence. She heard my need to move onto something else as contractions intensified and gave us the space to make decisions that we felt comfortable with. I wouldn't change a thing about my labor experience even though it was intense and exhausting, that's what makes it memorable. I'm proud of what I accomplished and don't feel like I would have been as strong or confident without Krystal a part of my team. She was invaluable to my husband and me. We cannot thank her enough for her guidance, care and support of our family.”
