Leslie Blue
I am fortunate to be able to do what I love twice in my lifetime. I am a seasoned registered nurse with over 35 years of experience. I’m blessed with three children and six grandchildren. My first love in nursing was labor/delivery/postpartum and women’s specialties. My labor and delivery experiences were in California where I worked with a very diverse group of women/couples/families in both the county and private hospitals.
Working with expectant families was a special time for all of us. As a nurse, there are a lot of important tasks that need to be completed for mom and baby during and right after delivery. My favorite part of the delivery process was providing support for the women in labor and the immediate recovery period after birth.
Since moving back to Denver, I have completed my DONA training as a birth doula and am looking forward to using my skills to provide in-person support in the form of comfort measures, relaxation techniques and breathing patterns to enhance the birthing experience for families at Rose.
One of my strengths is knowing the difference between the scope of a nurse and that of a birth doula. I will not be focused on the medical side of the process now and will enjoy the interaction and hands-on support for laboring moms and their partners to promote the labor process. I have a clear understanding of the role I will play as a doula and look forward to creating a positive relationship with the nursing staff, midwives and physicians. I look forward to being part of the Rose team as we create a stress-free environment and help families prepare to meet their newborns.
Now, I have the opportunity to do what fills my heart as a doula. It would be an honor to be part of your birthing journey.

“Leslie helped me through everything and with everything. I was able to handle a lot more pain with her physical help through the contractions. Leslie was a great reminder to breathe and helped keep me in the moment. I literally could not have done it without her. My partner was able to sleep which allowed him to help the remaining days in the hospital and I was able to get more rest. Leslie allowed us to be a little safer for our newborn post birth as well as during with her emotional and physical help.”
