Puja Mehta
The miracle of birth is a joyful and incredible journey, and I am honored to serve as a multilingual doula of color in Colorado. I work with you, your care team, and any support partner(s) you have to provide guidance and empowerment. My goal as a doula is that you feel supported and safe in your labor and birth environment, so you can listen to your body in a judgement-free zone and trust your instincts.
As a doula, my work is all about you:
To listen to you, understand what you need, and be a guide in labor and birth
To empower you to ask questions that will help you make the best and most-informed decisions
To be a consistent presence in the birth room for you and help you feel confident in your birth plan
Doulas are not medical professionals, but we are so lucky to be in the room with them while they give you the best care possible to drive healthy and safe outcomes for you and your family. I have supported many births as a birth doula for parents of diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and family structures. I teach a variety of yoga, including prenatal yoga, and use these skills to help with positioning and breathwork during labor and delivery.
Originally from Massachusettes, I went to school for Economics and Gender Studies and moved to Colorado in 2016 to work in healthcare in a clinical setting. I went to Michigan for my MBA in healthcare and organizational culture / behavior and returned to work in management consulting and healthcare for a few years before pivoting into the doula world. Along with being a doula, I am also an executive leadership coach and independent consultant, primarily for healthcare firms and hospitals. I have helped many organizations improve their patient experience and create processes to make the healthcare system easier and less costly to navigate.
On the personal side, I am an avid outdoorswoman and enjoy exploring nature with my husband and our dog. I come from a large family, I speak Spanish, (and conversationally, French, and Gujarati), and I enjoy learning about others and building community.

"Puja was amazing! She was a godsend to me and my husband. I don't know what we would have done without her, we just felt so much better knowing she was there to help"
"I am so happy we had Puja as our doula. She really was the definition of support, and with all the people coming in and out it was nice to know she was just there for us. It was almost like she was a magician with her positions and breathwork. I also loved the little comb she had, and those honey sticks too!"
"Puja was kind, calm, and supportive during labor and birth. She had great suggestions for managing the pain naturally and doing poses to move labor along!"
"It was great having Puja in the room with us. We hadn't met her before and asked for a doula when we got to the hospital. She showed up and it felt like we had known her for ages. It felt like she was part of the team and we felt like she really got to know us so well and understand our birth plan. The positions she showed me when things got really tough honestly relieved the pain a lot, and I was just so happy she was there."
