“I tell people that a doula is not a ‘nice to have’ but really a ‘must have’ for labor and delivery, especially for first time parents.

Our baby was born in 2021, and we had the best experience with a Rose doula. She was knowledgeable, caring and experienced. I was so nervous not knowing what was ahead of me. I had complications with my placenta not sufficiently supporting my baby, so I was induced at 37 weeks, and my baby was diagnosed with Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR). Through our initial virtual intake call after we signed up for the program, our doula listened to us, took detailed notes, and responded with professionalism and concern.

Because I needed to be induced early, I had lots of medical encouragements for my body to go into labor. It took two days just to get me into labor. My doula supported us over the phone and kept in touch throughout the first days of my labor, offering encouragement and suggesting periods of rest/sleep.

Once labor became more active with longer, stronger and more frequent contractions, we asked our Rose Doula to come to the hospital for physical, emotional and informational support in person. She was there for the most important parts- helping me manage the contractions with breathing patterns, relaxation and focus, involving my husband fully, and offering aromatherapy, music, soft candlelight and healing touch to keep me relaxed and comfortable in a calming environment.

She also took the most amazing photos of the labor that I cherish today! It was comforting to have a doula who knew the staff at Rose- since the program is in-house, and was fully integrated into the care team. Nurses come and go during their shifts, but your doula is there continuously as you welcome your baby into the world.

I can't imagine going through my labor without my Rose Doula, and I recommend  this program to everyone! My baby is now almost 4 years old and healthy and happy. Having a Rose Doula was one of the best decisions we ever made.”
